Rhyme Partners’ Melissa Bollea and Bill DiLuigi RHYME PARTNERS WRITER BILL DILUIGI WINS CANADIAN COVENANT AWARD
“Awaken My Love” Takes Jazz/Blues Song Of The Year
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 16, 2015) – After three consecutive nominations with GMA Canada’s Covenant Awards system (the sister to the United States Dove Awards system), Rhyme Partners writer Bill DiLuigi took home that Jazz/Blues Song of the Year award for “Awaken My Love” – written by DiLuigi, Judy Paster and Sean Spicer – at the 37th Annual Covenant Awards on November 5 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The song was recorded by Spicer – a five-time Covenant Award winner whose music was recently featured in 2014 movie The Identical. The Covenant Award, like the Dove Award, is the highest award artists and musicians in the inspirational and Christian music markets can receive from the governing body GMA.
A Downingtown, Pennsylvania native, DiLuigi moved to Nashville in 2005 and signed with Rhyme Partners in 2013. His versatility and ability to transcend genres has gotten him cuts in several genres, including pop-country (Richie McDonald, Amber Hayes, Macy Martin) and blues (Shaun Murphy). DiLuigi’s writing has also seen sync success, with placement in feature films Cowgirls ‘n Angels, Dakota’s Summer, A Sunday Horse and Storm Rider, as well as placement in television shows Hart of Dixie, The Tonight Show, Single Ladies, Alaska Gold Rush, Young and Restless, Access Hollywood, Lizard Lick Towing and Breaking Amish.
Aside from his Covenant Award win, DiLuigi also wrote the national theme song, “Dress Up This Town”, for Boot Barn with Rhyme Partners owner Melissa Bollea. He also co-wrote songs for American Idol finalist Skylar Laine’s new EP, “Dirt Covered Lace”, and he and Bollea share the title track “Sleeping Giant” on X Factor’s mega star finalist Rion Paige’s new self-titled EP, released earlier this month.
